I’m not sure why this sweets is made shaped like Ayu. Ayu is a popular fish living in river. Anyway, this Ayu fish shaped sweets has some sweet bean paste and rice cake called “Gyuhi” inside.

“Gyuhi” has really soft texture. I heard that in west part of Japan they don’t have “gyuhi” inside. The dough outside is made from castella dough.

I like this sweets very much.
The balance among castella dough, “gyuhi” and red bean paste were really good!
