People say “warabimochi” is one of popular sweets in western Japan in summer. “Warabimochi” is made from “warabi” powder which is a kind of starch. So the texture is glutinous and soft.

I often see that “warabimochi” comes with “kinako” powder and “kuromitsu”. “Kinako” is soybean powder, which is a popular material for “Wagashi” (Japanese traditional sweets). And “Kuromitsu” is brown sugar syrup, which has unique aroma and taste. My dad is a big fan of “kuromitsu”. “Kuromitsu” syrup is in the dumplings.

Taste
★★★☆☆
I expected softer dumpling and the syrup in it would pour out when I cut it…but it didn’t. I think it would be better more syrup in it.

Not bad. Around 100-150 yen.

Easy to get?
★★★☆☆
I got this at Seven-Eleven, one of the biggest convenience stores in Japan. If it is summer, you will be able to find “warabimochi” sweets at any convenience stores.
Get again?
★★☆☆☆
Probably not…I have had better “warabimochi” so I would get other products next time.
